(CTI) was cofounded by Justin Beck, who serves as the Chief Strategy Officer and plays a leading in role in guiding the company through the highly complex cannabis industry regulatory environment.
CTI announced in June 2017 its execution of an agreement to perform sponsored research within the laboratory of Dr. Daniele Piomelli at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Conducting the research is CTI Genetics, a subsidiary of CTI, under the direction of the firm’s genetics team. The research focuses on the plant’s genetic diversity, genomics, and biology, which will aid in the development of medical grade Cannabis varieties to be used for specific therapeutic symptoms.
An acknowledged authority in cannabinoid research, Dr. Piomelli has authored over 400 peer-reviewed journal articles. He is a professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology at UCI’s School of Medicine, the Louise Turner Arnold Chair in Neurosciences, and a director of UCI’s Institute for the Study of Cannabis. Dr. Piomelli counts the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s first Avant-Garde Award for Innovative Medication Development Research, which he received in 2010, among his various accolades.
